on my 68 it has the bonnet release handle inside the glove box. i was doing some work under the bonnet and had a new glovebox to fit. after i fitted
the glove box i am sure i tightened the cable clamp that sits just behind the glove box and was ready to check everything worked before shutting the
bonnet. I had to help my wife with something and left the car, while doing so it started to rain and my son closed the bonnet to stop it getting wet.
Now the problem is the bloody bonnet wont open!!! it feels like the cable is slipping on the clamp and not releaseing the catch... Does any one have
any idea how i can get it bugger open with out destroying the new glovebox?? i cant even drive the car as all my tools were just loose under the
bonnet as i hadn't packed up!!
cheers
steff.......
the only way to get it opened is to cut the handle in half and unwind the screws that hold it onto the bonnet
Time for a new bonnet handle and it a back up tie wire from the latch to under the front guard to use incase the cable fails
Another alternate is to get a choke cable from Auto one and fit it into the under dash area and use it instead of the one in the glove box
Hi
This is what you need to do with lever to get just a bit more travel that can sometimes pull the cable enough open the bonnet. You pull the lever over
so that it can go past its normal stop.

I got my bonnet open with a big srcew driver, by gettin in the hole behind the spare wheel from under the car.
This has been covered before. You can try putting a towell through the handle and pulling down on the towell with a strong sudden jerk to try and
release the bonnet catch. This seems brutal but worked for me when the release cable broke. Worth a try before cutting the handle!

Hi
That's great news, now fit another emergency cable under the mudguard, hide a spare key to the car in your boot and your bullet proof.
