Hi all im having problems with my type 3 brake lights.
Some times they work and some times they dont.
The pedal is a bit spongy to start with but goes hard quit quick. This is when it starts to play up. Even if you press as hard as you can (only some
times) on the pedal the light does not work? It is a dual switch master cylinder. Not sure if it needs bleeding or new switches. The calippers and
back slave cylinders are not that old.
Thanks Telf
Put a pair of switches in it,but I think the main problem will be the master cylinder, it is most likely full of gunk and this clogs the switch, you can try a bleed prior to fitting the switches but this will probably finish the master cylinder.
The Master C is only about 4ys old. Think i will replace the switches.
Bleed the brakes as you fit them.
is that through the hole that you fit them in to.
Sorry silly question.
Have someone push the pedal down gently as you tighten them up,this will expel any air just behind the switch,if the pedal is still spongy bleed them in the normal manner.
Yes
air in the master cylinder behind the brake switches can cause problems...
as said, unscrew the brake switches [one at a time] with someone with their foot on the brakes...
hold down while You tighten the switch..
are Your caliper bleeders at the top of the calipers?
Lee
will give that a go.
My callipers are top and bottom bleeders.
Lee, this is going to be my next project, are you saying that you don't need to bleed the brakes if someone has there foot on the pedal? Sorry if that's a weird question.
