brake shoes cleaning?

hi, is there any way to sucessufuly clean shoes covered in oil. thanks greg

mmm the right thing to do is replace them are they brand new?
i have seen them soaked in kero and cleaned with break cleaner

but you could wash in warm soapy water then rinse in metho

There is a specific cleaner in a pressure pack called Brakleen, a CRC product, works pretty well, you cpuld put them in a warm oven after you clean them to see if any more oil comes out of the brake linnings.

Him much material is left? Is it worth machining down. Last on checked they Are cheap as buggery to replace

Yes, there is a CRC product called BRAKLEEN in a pressure pack
that brings the oil to the surface..

Remove and soak them in metho and set fire to them. Do not use kero. Use Brakeclean after as I doubt if it would work by itself.

Do not use kerosene it is oily.

Soak them in petrol for several hours and set fire to them several times.

If they still exude oil, get new linings.

It's worth a try.

I believe Brakleen works on clutches too...

although whether it works on metallic clutch plates???

but the other type.. YES... [used to be asbestos]
