Hi All, just a heads up on something that just annoyed the shit out of me, I ordered a pair of brand spanking new type4 2 ltr heads, I spotted sharp
ridges in all pushrod tube holes and no doubt, would have cut the new pushrod tube seals on installation, I ground these to an acceptable finish, then
installed the heads being glad that I didn't miss them before assembly!.
I was then absolutely pissed off when I found that the rocker gear would foul the casting just above the pushrod tube holes!!! so after careful
grinding and making sure the pushrod tubes were blocked off so no debris were to go down into this new engine, the rockers were now free, but I
thought I would just stick this up in here to warn others to carefully examine new heads and even bolt the rocker shafts, on before installing heads
on motors.
These heads were made in Spain by AMC EVerything else looked absolutely fantastic with these heads cheers Frank
Weird i have used many sets of the AMC Heads and never had the problems you mentioned.
So I am the unlucky prick to receive a set of heads that were manufactured on a friday

Hi Frank did you also have to clearance the castings so the tappet covers would fit? The AMC heads are great but these little problems cost time and money to fix but they are still a more viable option than the exchange heads.Cheers Les

we had to do everything mentioned to two sets of heads
another reply on DSK, this time from Steve at Kombi Rescue,
Frank the other more alarming issue is that the rocker post location is different to a gen vw head and lash caps should be used on the valve stems to
help aid geometery cheers steve
Now I did notice that I had to take up a lot of slack with tappet adjustment and did wonder if it was going to be a concern, I didn't even know
lash caps were available, shit, didn't even know what they were Gene Berg sells them, have a look in ebay
