Hi All,
Has anyone out there on Aussieveedubbers purchased an engine from Strictly Foreign VW in the states?? If so, how was the experience, how's the engine
& would you reccomend it.
I'm looking at putting a 1776 or 1915 into my '58 beetle.
Cheers,
Brendan
I don't know about them, but, if something goes wrong it is a long way to go for warranty.
There are plenty of good engine builders on here for you to choose from. Put up where you are located and someone will recommend a builder close to
you.

they have ok feedback on samba ,but for a little uncomplicated engine like that just do it yourself ,there is nuthin complicated in stock stroke engines
thanks for the feedback gents.
Can anyone give me an idea of what it costs to get a 1916cc engine built in Australia??
Last time I was at classic, they had a 1916 short block there on special. May have even been a 1776 as well. I think these came from the US. Maybe give George a call.
Cheers Cam, might just do that....
Also give Rod Penrose and Stan Pobjoy calls
They both sell 1916's and will give you an idea on price
look into disc brakes as well for the front
I would think the Aussie builders will have trouble matching Marks prices , even after you have paid GST , Freight and Import duties

yeah that's what i've been thinking, the same engine to be built here will be double that right?? I think i need to do some more research on what the best option is......
Have a read of the feedback on him though. Maybe it is fair, maybe it is not but, buying from him when all the way over here will make it even harder
if the feedback is accurate. I know I would not chance it.
