Twin
tar76 - March 2nd, 2012 at 03:16 PM

Got hold of a set of twin carbys that were once used on a bug. They are on Kadron manifolds and on the carbys it has written Solex H 40/44 EIS and also Kadron filter housings on top. The guy was telling me they were Kads but the name clearly says Solex. Going by the numbers does this mean they are 40mm and if so would they be a good size to put on a 1600 tp? I have no linkages and they would most likely need a kit.

No dramas!
I was only sent that link half an hour before you posted up I think, was like, boom!

Anyway, I'll have my 40's in the coming days and will be setting them up ASAP.
Keep an eye on my build thread.

I'm pretty sure a lot of others have had experience with them on here.

Cool is your motor stock? I'm just not sure if these bad boys are to big for a stock motor? Once i find out if they are the go i'll need to get them kitted and fitted was hoping the likes of Matberry might be the man to talk to.

I was running them on my stock 1600 for months with no problems. Just make sure they're jetted right for your motor. Gave it more pep than a single carby. Someone on here should be able to sell you the rest of the kit you need: linkage, fuel regulator, etc.

Excellent did you find it changed fuel economy much?

thats what i'm hoping. i'm keen to start getting involved in the drag scene so this just might be a start. My kombi is not a real speed machine and the old boys fat chic came along and i couldn't see it go. I really wanted an earier model as i had a 57 about 13 year ago but the 71 was just to cheap and i was over my navara 4x4.
