Hello all, I've just bought a property and sadly my kombi will not fit in the garage
so I'm going to have to park it on the street
, at
least I've succesfully negotiated with the decision maker (wife) to hold onto it. My question is: what should I do, install to make it as safe as
possible from any car theifs ie:kill switch etc any help or advise, experiences good/bad would be great, cheers
club lock and if its gonna be there for a while take the points out
Alternately take the steering wheel off
better than a club lock unless you try to drive it.
my car has a hidden kill switch that has key that can be removed.
I have had mine parked on the street for two years. No special security. No problems. I even used to forget to lock everything when I first got it.
Remote central-locking/alarm with shock sensor and engine immobiliser - less $250 from Tandy (last time I looked) :thumb
one word ... ferrets ...
scare the most vicious of burglar people away

Its a Kombi, who is going to steal it, its more likely they will break in and steal stuff, so dont leave valuables in it, otherwise install an alarm, they wont hang around if an alarm sounds...
Hey Kol
Is there much mucking around to fit one of those Tandy systems your talking about, Im a bit mentally challenged, too many beatings from my younger
days, thats my excuse anyway :jesus
Rob......
The alarm itself is reasonably simple, but the central locking gets a bit more complicated, unless you're happy to settle for just the front
doors.
The instructions for the alarm were fairly easy to read, but connecting the central locking to the alarm was kinda complicated, because neither set of
instructions accounted for the other, if you know what I mean.
The alarm basically hooked up to the power, ignition, door switch circuit, turn indicators, etc. It's the sort of installation that nearly
anybody could do with a bit of time, patience and concentration. :thumb
The alarm I bought from Tandy was actually a Jaycar unit, with rolling codes, two remotes, engine immobiliser, shock sensor, siren, etc. It has
functions such as the ability to operate central locking (when you finally work out how to hook them up!), close electric windows/sunroofs, automatic
re-arm and so on, just like the expensive ones.
so you can seriously put in automatic windows with little ease
Personally i like teh ferrets bit
, or some sorta crazy mokney
man:P
Go the MONKEY MAN!
!MONKEY MAN MONKEY MAN!
hey kruizinkombi, this jaycar alarm you bought. it also kills the vw motor and detects door opening and everything? did it have any movement sensors or stuff? would you have a model number or code or something? i would be interested in one of those

why not spend the $$$ on lowering your kombi.
Then it would fit in the garage.

Sounds like a good idea to me
