My semiphore cover that came of my 56 oval were black ( the car is a cream color) these are the original ones, But my 57 oval is painted the same as the car, can any one tell me what color they are ?? Thanks

Your semiphores could have been black if they were on a poverty(no chrome, painted bumpers, wheel caps and 3 spoke steering wheel) oval as the cheap ones were were just that. Deluxes and standard were painted the body colour. volma

I don't know if this is correct but I did read somewhere that most Australian beetles that were assembled here in CKD (complete knocked down) form used black semaphores as it saved matching them to the body colour. I know both of mine are black and the car is blue. Anybody verify this?

from memory, the handbook in my 56 oval showed all of the cars with black semaphore covers, plus all of the semaphores i have looked at have a coat of black under whatever colour/s they were painted when i saw them. maybe some dealers painted the semaphores to match the cars.
