ok guys

what are some honest opinions on these carbs.

fuel guzzling finniky POS or quality all the way through???

Starbug - August 23rd, 2003 at 01:15 PM

Im running my beetle on the 40dcn and while it needs tuning from time to time, ive found the perfect fuel/air mixture and its running really well (tho i am running it a bit lean) Though i do think its a bit wasted on my ittybitty 1600 engine. Its not wasting too much fuel.

I was thinking of selling it and 2 smaller ones, but now that i know what they are worth i think i'll keep it anyhoo.

umm... blue74l... can i have a copy of the aforementioned webber pages as well please:)) asterope@iprimus.com.au Muchly appreciated!

I have two of these type of carbies that I'm getting ready for the 1914, I'm building. What I am after is the hex linkages, so I can set them up on my type one engine.
Has anyone out there got any ideas or can let me know where I can buy some linkages to suit.
Regards,

I have one on my cabrio with a standard 1600cc and extractors. It certainly gives it a bit of go, and a lovely weber note on decelaration.

Only critism would be the lack of a choke which means it runs like crap until its warmed up.

I got the carby rebuilt by a carby shop in Sydney for $90 including the price of the kit.

Cheers

Steve

Very popular carb for single carb applications once. You should find you can fit the "shroud-type" linkage. I seem to recall the guys at VolksPower in Melbourne were fans of these, might be worth a call.

I've got a 40DCNF and it has a choke mechanism that uses a cable to operate it. Had it on a 1776 in a beetle and it ran great......motor gone now and the carby is just sitting in the shed waiting for a new motor.....:D

The "problem" with DCNF's is the bowl " I believe"

Apparently the have a tendency to flood while going round corners.

Gene Berg sold modified versions for years. They were VERY popular in the 60's and 70's

I have never run these carbs
I ran a Progressise for 18 months.

People said they were THE worst carb - but i reckon it was great.

Bite the bullet. Run the carbs. Have a good go at making them work and make up your own mind.

flooding in corners.

how are they gunna like it when the buggy gets air

or is deep in the whoops??

spose i'll find out!!!
