Although, after getting bogged trying to hook up my trailer today, I could be tempted to instal them so that the centre setting is stock, giving me a few inches adjustment either way. :thumb

koolkarma, here's a pic I found last night on the net...

get ready to get dirty!!!! u have to pull the beam out pull out all the leaf springs and then clean every bit of 30 odd years of grease!!! then grind down the little lobes do the manx buggy ones come with the adjustable bump stops??? because if u are going down lower the 4 inchs i would reccommend them!

Why do ppl talk of adjustable spring plates on the rear instead of adjusting the tosion bars a spline or two?

Gotta love t3 suspension. Just twist them around and down/up it goes.

The idea of the adjustable springplates is that you fit them the same as if you were adjusting the splines, then when its all back together you can adjust the ride height whenever you want without having to pull it all apart...

adding to that its also easier in my case to jack the car up and change height so i can change my rear wheel!!!

i have been looking at kombi lowering kits.... how low is 50mm???... kombi_kid's and crazyfiggi's vw's look awesome... just how low are your vw's???...

I was wondering if there was anyplace that i could talk to about lowering a kombi in brisbane... i know there is Indian Automotive but was wondering if there was anywhere closer to home??
Does lowering a kombi mean getting a modification plate???... and would it increase insurance premiums???

i dont know how low i went i think its something around 5 inchs i would go for around 3 inchs its a good height!!! with adjustable bumpstops u dont need to fit them unless u go over 4 inchs.
in the indian automotive kit he says that he roccomends to get the engineered certificated just incase u get instrife by the police (i will be targeted by the police here like every other P plater with a lowered car with rims)
i would ring kimm at indian they do an excellent kit!!!

custom bugs and buses at penrith do kits as well, they often send stuff to brissy, i think hardings fit them if you dont want to do it yourself...

i too want to go a little lower, purely for stability reasons. how low should i go (without sacrificing ride capabilities) and what is the cheapest way to do it?

Cheapest way is to stick to 2 or 3" and use Angus adjusters on the front, and reset the splines on the back. You won't need to alter brake lines, shockers or anything, but you will need to do a wheel alignment.

I'm not sure that such a mild lowering job would make much difference to stability because I haven't done mine yet. You'd have to ask somebody that has. I personally feel that if stability is what you are after, you should focus on things like wheel bearings, steering box, balljoints, tie-rod ends, trailing arm bushes and the like. If its still not good enough after you have everything up to scratch, then consider lowering.

Agree with what KKol said PLUS tyre choice.

I'm running Michelin XCD Light Truck tyres at 40-45 psi, and have found that they suit the stock suspension very well
