I have an Australian built 67 beetle with a 1300 single port in it
I replaced the accelerator cable and I bought one that was 2650mm long thinking it was the correct one, however it's about 2 inches too long
What is the correct length??
Does it matter if I use the one I've got and just tighten the barrel clamp down on the cable instead of the solid end fitting?
Cheers
Hi
Just cut the accelerator end off..
and do that..
onto the cable...
it probably won't break again as they normally snap off next to the accelerator solid end..
My spare cable is 2627mm long for 1967-77 1300 & 1500
cheers
LEE
If thatt doesn't work then fit a cable shortening kit.

Thanks lee
What is the end fitting on your spare?? Is it the s shaped end or the eyelet? That's on the pedal box end by the way
I also forgot mention I have a h30/31 carb, would this cause any trouble with cable lengths??
Also lee, is ut a solid or braided cable??
Hi
That model Beetle used the ferrule on the end of the cable to position the return spring, so length is critical.
I'm not sure what is the correct length but you need to go back to the parts place and get them to double check
