After removing the dropped sump from my engine I need / want to install the oil temp sender, it was in the dropped sump but now I need to find a new
place, is there a place standard to the engine (1600 TP) or do I need to create one. There is what appears to be a welsh plug at the back of the
engine below and to the right of the oil pump cover, could this be the original place ?
thanks in advance
Don
PS, a pic would be good
Sorry, Don.
There was no original sender on a type 1 engine.
Quickest & easiest solution is the dipstick sender unit.
i did mine in the pulley end pressure relief valve plug

Hi
Drill and tap the oil pressure relief plug is the best idea unless you have a universal case with blank off for the Type 3 oil filler.
The VDO dipstick senders are fiddly, they are hard to get an accurate reading on the oil level as they are round and tend to push the oil away, so you
need to carry a stock dipstick with you for checking.
I think I have a drilled and tapped oil pressure relief plug sitting around, if I can find it I will post it up to you.
