Hopefully getting a set of Empi 914 alloys for my '68 Beetle. Looking at options for wheelbolts and would prefer OEM bollts rather than Empi ones.
Anyone know whether Type 4 or Audi 14mm wheel bolts have a 60degree taper or are they ball like my stock bolts
Cheers........Wayne
Do yourself a favour, Get a stud and wheelnut kit. Wheelbolts are the worst idea ever thought of!!! studs and nuts make life so much eaiser!!!! Cant believe some cars still come out with them today!!!! my2c
actually I find wheel bolts easier as i can see the holes where the studs I have no idea where they are when putting on a wheel, also I find when
trying to locate a wheel on studs I always end up jabbing or scratching the back of the wheel flange area, a royal pita, have no problem with bolts on
this matter.
But I'll give ya one thing, studs are stronger in most cases.
Hi
I dont think any VW used tapered wheel nuts, go to http://www.niceproducts.com.au/ get some studs and nuts. Any local parts shop can order them in for you
Steve
If i had a flat on the side of the road on a windy cold night in the poring rain i know which i would prefer.Ill be waiting in the car with heater on nice and worm by the time you strugle to find the hole to put your bolt in!!!! But hey at least you wont have any scratches on the back of your rims were no one can see them??? WTF
Go the STUDS 4 sure much easier
Wayne , all of the VW bolts/nuts are the ball seat and are not compatible with your wheels . I have the 60 deg. bolts and the stud kits in stock . Why do you not want the Empi bolts ? , you have the wheels , ROD , 02-42729920 .

Fair comment Rod and Adam. Am guessing genuine 914 alloys would be way out of my price league though
Cheers
Sit on ya arse, cross ya legs and sit the wheel on ya ankles. Whats hard about that?
Nothing hard about that but if its pouring rain and you dont have a tarp or something else to sit on you get a wet ring.
studs and nuts is the way to go.
heres one just have to find 3 more

Bought my stud and nut conversion from Richard Holzl from Veeforce.Excellent person to deal with.He sells them on ebay but was better to deal direct..
Hi
The kit that Richard sells would have ball seats, these wheels need taper seats
Steve
Richard has sets that suit either application and he is doing wide 5 kits as well
Give him a call if interested
Yes Richard can sell the 60 degree taper nuts for his stud and nut conversions aswell because I bought exactly just that for myself for when I fit my Empi Sprintstars
