kombi tune-up valves

Hi all,

I have never adjusted valves before. This seems to be a bit tricky. What are the tolerances on the gap? I have only looked at number 1 and 2 cylinders and of the four valves only number 1 inlet seems to be 0.006 inch. Number 1 outlet is 0.010 (possibly more) and number 2, well I can not slide a feeler gauge in for in/outlet after turning motor 180 degrees. For now I have left it as is. Should I mess with it or leave it alone - if it ait broke don't fix it?

You did turn back to get number 2 to close. Turning forward will close 4.

Firing order is 1-4-3-2

Adjust the tappets to 0.006" both inlet and exhaust when the engine is COLD.

But before you adjust them remove the tappet screws all off them and dress up the tappet face with some emery paper and a file.

This will make an even surface for the tappet to sit against the valve stem and therefore make the tappet clearance correct
