Kill Switch

Can anyone tell me how to wire a kill switch into a car. I was going to kill the ignition but have since been told it is better to kill the coil by grounding it. Exactly how does this work. Or is it not true.

Thanks

What ever way you choose, try to conceal the switch. On my Sprite which I always ran with no roof, I used the panel light sw. I wired the panel lights on at all times with the lights & used the panel light switch as an additional onn/off for the ign.

kill the coil by grounding it. Basically you have a switch that will ground the "-"ve points side of the coil. This is also the tacho wire if you have one (makes life easier).

Basically then it's like have the points closed the whole time, and never opening. It is the best way because if the switch fails it doesn't matter.

If you cut the ignition, you will need a high amp switch, and when it gets old it will give mysterious ignition cuts etc.
