whiskey07 - August 27th, 2012 at 01:42 PM
Hi I have a 1916 oztrike and have recently had twin 42 kadrons installed

plugs in but not getting long out of them.

Check your jet sizes and fuel pressure, you will most likely have to change the jetting as it must be running too rich.

The jets have been reduced to the lowest size as i was having more problems flat spots and stalling before they were reduced

Were the kads torn down, inspected and cleaned before being bolted up ???
Is the fuel pressure OK ??? (you only want like 3 PSI, and yes a standard VW mechanical pump can exceed this)

Was going to suggest you chook them away, and get hotter ones......but I chickened out.

Which NGK's are you running?
Klaus - August 27th, 2012 at 06:01 PM
kads are only 1.5 -2 psi max
DylanTheDubber - August 27th, 2012 at 06:13 PM
Check the needle and seat isn't blocked! A lot of later model kads are stuck even from new from the factory they aren't right even when they should
be.

it sounds like ONE of the carburetors is running too rich...
You may need colder plugs...
are they long or short reach plugs?
Original VW plugs are 1/2 inch reach [about 12.5mm]
very short thread plugs..

The carbs are new and the plugs are NGK- B4H.
