67 or earlier beetle or 70+ Type 3

Morning Guys!
I'm at a headways at the moment. I cant decide which direction I should head.
I've found both a 67 Beetle and a 73 square. Im wanting to create soemthing with that low cruiser rat look but unsure which direction I should go.
I understand the mechanics behind achieving this with a Beetle but not so much with the squareback.
How easy are the 70's squarbacks to modify/lower & are there plenty of parts out there for them?

late type 3 easy to lower, parts are not everywhere but you can find them, great driving car

yeah..with the right tools which are pretty basic you can lower a type 3 in an hour or 2 no extra parts needed , unless balljoints n bits need
replacing

73 Square is one of the best air cooled VWs to drive and has lots more usable space than a beetle BUT rust is a problem.
67 beetle is one of the best if you want simple and is easier to modify the engine.

I've given it consideration and I'll probably end up getting the beetle. Suits the application and the look I want more so then the type 3 would.

back in the 70s parts were no problem until all the VW dealerships closed down.. as a car I had one for many years
driving from sydney to Perth to Brisbane etc
excellent handling and great car.
These days they look a bit dated, as they were designed in the early 1960s, and even the late models looked dated by the end of the 70's.
so, a Beetle... 1962 to 1967 are just about identical to most people.. and most are assembled in Australia.
the later 12 volt beetles with 1500-1600 engines and better suspensions are better in My opinion... like the 1968 beetle..
