So having to repair my nice solid 59 doors due to a previous owner letting the passenger door swing back so far that bent the hinges, the A-pillar,
the door and partially rip the rivets thro the outer door skin.
So here's the rivet area I've cut out due to the rivets pulling thru.
So the question is, to maximise strength in the repair should I extend the repair patch up the door pillar or due to the inner strengthener it'll be
strong enough?
anyone?
It should be as strong as the original, if you repair it to the original method.
So if it swings too far again, it will rip the rivets again.
If you create more bracing, it will allow other areas to bend or rip before the rivet area does.
So yes it will be strong enough as originally designed.
^^ x2, and the inner takes/spreads the load, but it's hard to tell much more from your pic, ie. the condition of the panels left.
