L Bug Steering Boss
TorxKiwi - September 26th, 2012 at 08:53 PM

I picked up a great set of Golf seats on 3-point runners from 65busser and put the drivers seat in last night. All has gone well but its now a bit of a squeeze for a fat bastard like me to fit in under the steering wheel.

I have a smaller steering wheel which I picked up a while ago, but the boss kit I got off e-bay is crap. I can fit it but if I turn the wheel I have lights flashing on high beam, the horn blaring and God only knows what else happening as everything shorts out.

Does anyone have a boss bit that will fit an L Bug that they are looking to sell, or can someone recommend a supplier of a decent one?

Its a common thing with VW bosses...

they are way too short...

I did see one that someone had added a bit to the boss to make it thicker... lol

with an L bug You may need to check the size of your steering shaft splines..

they changed to the Golf size but not sure when [what year]
so they were smaller shaft..

Best of luck..

PS: Yes the steering wheel is too close to Your body getting into a beetle and getting other seats to fit perfect can be difficult too.. there wasn't much room either side of the original seats

Dean, you just need to adjust the air gap between the steering wheel and the switch gear.

If you have a look under the dash you'll see where the steering column bolts up the holes are slotted so you can move it up and down to change the gap.
