My gearbox in my 64 DC splitty has lost reverse and jumps out of 4th. Is a gearbox out of a 67 beetle the same. would I be able to take the reduction box and axles from the DC splitty and put them into the bettle box and then putthe whole lot back into the splitty.
Any advice would be great

No we can get second ok. I have played around with the plate under the gearshift lever and that is not the problem

No it will go backwards.

The crown wheel in a split is on the other side of the pinion shaft because the reductions reverse the drive.

If you fix that it will be geared down.

Beetle 1200 4.375 diff 0.89 top gear

Big nut split 4.125 diff 0.82 top gear
