Where to get wheels balanced Gold Coast

Hi There,
I need a couple of early wide 5 steel wheels balanced, I can't find anywhere on the gold coast that will do this. Anyone have a contact? even on the south side of Brisbane?

Curious what the prob is Frosty... is it just to do with the lack of a center bore they can spindle mount with ???

Obviously spitballing here, but couldn't you just take along a drum and get them to balance that, then bolt the wheel up to the drum and go from there ???

Or maybe would the splines need to be removed first ???

Thats what Matt Berry said to do.Rose Also said go to a truck place. they have big spindles for yhe bigger truck wheels. I will be looking into when i get home cause ive never been able to do mine

I took a front brake hub along today ( got some new tyres for the 4wd) and the fitment guy said that tyre balance machines these days don't allow the extra offset the hub gives.

shop wheel balance machines do not calculate correction weight coefficients (i.e. 3 step process. initial run, then trial weight run then co-eff is known, then balance run), thats why they can balance in a 'single' run. they use fixed coefficients for various wheel types and that is why any other type of wheel (diameter,weight,width etc) will not balance as accurately as you may like... thats also why some wheels just don't balance well, co-eff falls between the cracks

You could measure diameter/width and weight, compare that with other wheels and have a go using that wheels details.. a good shop may be keen/interested to help you.. but most don't even know why the machine works the way it does.

I asked my local Beau Repaires and they measured there largest cone at 170mm or something like that and I measured the diamter between the wide 5 bolt hole humps and it looked like it'd be all good.

Been a while since I asked and measured things but was happy that I could get them to balance my wheels when I need :)

If you want to come to my place, I can balance them for you - have an old Hoftmann balancer,
or you can borrow my adapter plate

What about making a slim adapter plate. Old drum, machine off excess to make a plate. Machine a bore to suit most balances. 50-100mm should work on most.

Will not be completely accurate as offset change and wheel bolts... But, may get you going.

ok bob janes at cooparoo have the wide 5 adapter as they got one in for me ages ago for the several early cars I had
nonetheless why not take the 'on car' balancing option?
any decent tyre place should be able to do this +
no adapter required..
