I built a replica 1927 Bugatti back in the 80's.. actually had Powertune Engineering built it for the company I worked in Pacific Film... With an 1835 it would lift the front wheels. Also built an Alfa replica. When we took them to shows they caused a lot of mixed reactions from WOW to get the hell out. Will try and find some pics.

The wheels on the ones we built used the MGTF spoked wheels..looked great. still trying to find a photo.
