Kai.A. - March 13th, 2004 at 10:42 PM

have you read the thread on volkszone?

it isn't actually 'legal' as it's not finished yet.... but i'm not sure i agree with your comment that there is no way it could be....

wouldnt the fact that it has no rear window even though it came out with one prevent it from being street legal?:alien

Kai.A. - March 13th, 2004 at 11:10 PM

it may pose a problem here in aus with all the crazy laws (most of which i am only just becoming familiar with), but in the u.k they're not really bothered, ya can pretty much do what ya want.

the only law i can think fo which may effect it is that you need at least two rear vision mirrors, which it has....

hmm, what about vans that 'paint' the rear window, and utes with loads that block the rear window... i had the same 'discussion' with a pig that pulled me over and q'd my blocked rear window on the bug, he was wrong...

btw, it looks sweet.. i may have to steel the idea ;)

especially the handbrake

DubCrazy - March 14th, 2004 at 08:10 AM

that is perfectly legal in the uk as it has a drivers side mirror, and for it to pass a mot(roadworthy) thats all it is ment to have.

As for the crazy laws, every year you have a mot which takes about 45 mins and they check everything and i mean everything on your car to make sure its safe... yes in the uk you can pretty much do what you want to a car with no real limits as long as it goes through its yearly mot

They dont have the limits on engine sizes, body mods etc u want to fit a 13b twin turbo in u do it and no other mods have to be done(e.g brakes) as long as the brakes work to the limits they set(older cars have a much lower setting)

Want a rag top, just cut the roof off and stitch the doors and its legal, lower it as far as you can,no coke can rules

pretty much anything goes as long as you get a mot every year
