this is a picture of my grandparents's Oval beetle which they purchased in 1956 .....they kept it untill 1960 i think when they sold the oval and bought a big window ..........the woman in the photo is my
grandmother...when she would have been in her early 20's i beleive, the child in the bassonet would be my uncle jim and the little girl is my aunty

well i was at my grandparents 50th wedding aniversary today and there was also a picture in a slide show that someone did for them of their big window bug parked under their house........so i must get that one off them too and scan it......might i mention my father wasnt even born when this photo was taken!:P

no, from when I was about 2 until about 8 I did every service on that car, by 3 years old I knew all the greasing points, dad used to deliberately miss one every now & then for me to pick up on him & tell him, he was very strict about servicing, even had special red plastic caps that fitted over each grease nipple protecting it from dirt & making it easier to find, in 11 years the only trouble the car EVER gave was terminal engine failure about 2km from home
