love the pics man...
especially the last one.. where hitler is laughing at the beetle...
he probably started production of them in the hope that the americans would laugh themselves to death at the sight of it!

Andy - December 17th, 2002 at 03:50 PM

Hitler and Mr Porche were pretty good buddies. He did a good sell job to hitler, and hence the beetle was born!

Grey 57 - December 19th, 2002 at 10:00 PM

Don't mention the war.
"You started it"
" no we didnt'"
"yes you did, you invaded Poland"

Classic Fawlty. Luv it.

Whose going to be the first to Photo shop that Hitler pic with a speech bubble????
:rudolf:beer:tree

I'd actually like to know what the waiter in the back ground is saying to the guy in the white suit beside him.

Hmmm - to be a fly on the wall!

68AutoBug - January 6th, 2003 at 09:48 PM

The fellows in white coats weren't waiters. The one with the patches on His white coat is an officer of some kind, and the other one in a white dust coat , is probably an engineer ..... I wonder what ever happened to that model????
and its a sad fact that without BRITISH intervention After the war... the Beetle would NEVER have been a Success, and Yes, I've read the books & seen the photos.... I have a collection of VW & Porsche books.... and a few Models too..
Many VW owners like to know as much as they can about the history of "the little wonder of the world":thumb

68AutoBug - January 6th, 2003 at 10:00 PM

Did You know that in the episode of Fawlty Towers where Basil Hits Manuel on the head with a large frying pan - He knocked Manuel unconscious and split his head open....
and that POLLY was BASIL'S Real Life Wife when the series was made....

Memories.... and don't mention the war!

"A dirty Rat Fawlty- Vermin-" [the Major]
"Where is the Generalisimo?"
"in Madrid" [Manuel]
I love em....

:bounce:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Grey 57 - January 6th, 2003 at 10:08 PM

"Did you know" that were only ever 8 episodes of Fawlty Towers ever made!!!
Seems like a lot more. :thumb

jenz58 - January 6th, 2003 at 11:25 PM

You are kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!:o Only eight I don't believe it. Seems like so many more.

Must be that each time you watch them you pick up on something new?!:D

fatboy - January 7th, 2003 at 12:01 AM

Yes definatley 12 - and I have almost downloaded all of them (about 50% of the last one to go!)

Grey 57 - January 7th, 2003 at 08:56 AM

Thanks guys for the correction. I had the same argument with the person who told me it was 8.
I couldn't believe that it was only 8 either.
Now I know fer sure.
Cheers

jenz58 - January 7th, 2003 at 05:15 PM

Well 12 is only 4 more:) Still doesn't seem enough, but there you go.

Hey got that Woody Allen movie 'Sleeper':D

I walk by this cult movie store in Elizabeth St every day and had never noticed the sign before. Well it is up a narrow flight of stairs between other shops, very dark and smells of stale body odour:puke

I thought this place would have it for sure and it did. Sweet!! Bought 'Soylent Green' while I was there, apparently very rare. It's a classic.

Still haven't mentioned the war;)

HotRodMatt - January 7th, 2003 at 05:28 PM

This guy just sets himself up for so much grief!

arghhh where'd the pic go?

[Edited on 7-1-2003 by HotRodMatt]

HotRodMatt - January 7th, 2003 at 05:31 PM

Bloody hell! Where did the pic go?

jenz58 - January 7th, 2003 at 07:10 PM

LOL

There's a few of us that ask that question at times:)

You'll get used to it and eventually master it. Good Luck, I'll watch out for it!!! Loved the build up to it:thumb

1303Steve - January 7th, 2003 at 10:59 PM

Hi

The last pic with Adolf looking at the Beetle, I know a guy in Australia who has one of those models, one of 3 I think, it was given to ?? Hartnet when he went the factory after the war when the ??? Hartnet went over to look over the factory to see if it was a vaible car for Australian production. ??? Hartnets grandson gave it to my friend. I dont want to mention my friends name here without his permission.

I hope get some picturs of the model soon for the Toy Department in Zeitschrift, the Club VeeDub Sydney mag and they will be posted on the club site as well.
