apologies
i didnt realise u could go THAT far.
almost as much power as you could get out of a SUBY like MINE!
(seriously tho, no offence meant to the veedub)
lol Baybus you have a lot to learn!
My street regod vw, not drag car, is good for low 13's (well will be when the engine is rebuilt and reinstalled ) - and thats with only 40mm carbies!!
What till i have funds for efi...
I love pulling up next to rexies and yelling "RICE!!" before i blow the doors off em :P
There's a razor edge dragster in the U.K. thats getting 850HP out of all VW. The guy got the motor from a funny car style beetle, apparently
it's Type4 based
It was in VolksWorld ages and ages ago, it's been being built for quite sometime pretty much in the guy's spare time but is nearing
completion at the moment.
Also Peter Gumley's Supercharged 2.0Ltr Type4 on Methanol get's 500HP does'nt it and I've read it's all pretty much
blueprinted and modded factory parts :o (any of you NSW boys can clarify)?
But that drag beetle is awesome!!! Porsche fans look wicked too
Just my $0.2
yeah gumleys car is a type 4 engine. Its 2.3 litres. I think (only think) its stock 71 mm stroke with 102mm pistons, but I am sure its 2.3 something.
I only mentioned the fan becuase a drag car shouldnt need one. But I dont think this car will go far anyway. doesnt look like theres a distributer or even carb linkages.

I like the workmanship but I would like to find whoever did this and bitch slap THEM into next week.
Everything I can see tells me that window aint grafted. Look carefully and you can see crotch coolers in front of the doors - 1951 split ? (one of
the gurus can correct me on that I'm sure). Also dash (from what you can see) looks like split vintage.
Off course those in them selves could be grafted too, or fabricated, so I will have to hold judgement until more details come to light.......
heh, good call Chris! Yeah, it was taken at it's first display, the VolksWorld show. Was still being finished, awesome car and I love the
work.
Doug, the car would have need the whol lower half replacing and if what I've been told about UK cars is correct, the roof gutters, most of the
front and rear 1/4's, hell! even the bulkheads on the floorpans rust over there. Plus the thing was probably just a shell no I.D. just like my
'53. I'll just keep the pic's of what I'm doing to that away from here, LOL
cheers,
C
I may be wrong but is that a Pauter 3 piece engine case rather than vw based case? I assume it was not completed at this stage (minus dizzy etc).
I reckon they could have gone a bit bigger on the wing
