Gull Wing (delorean style) doors on a baja
bajachris88 - December 28th, 2005 at 09:23 PM

Something i picked up on google images while searching for pics of barwork. Something you don't see everyday.

Not sure how practical the door system would be offroad, or even in a low car park, lol. But still interesting.

SEVERLY weaken the roof, roll it your stuffed, park in a small space your stuffed, park under something low yep u guess it your stuffed, and above all that if its not enough....

ITS horridly FUGLY! but thats just my opinion...

bajachris88 - December 28th, 2005 at 09:37 PM

1stcarbug, thats not an opinion, thats common sense ;)

DIY-DUB - December 28th, 2005 at 09:45 PM

Oh stop being such purists, it's different and pretty cool and since when have logistics or common sense ever gotten in the way of that :spin:

also it looks like theres a fairly strong rollbar going across the width and down either side of the windscreen, would that be enough to make up for the weakened roof?

I give a :tu: to that. It shows engineering, ingenuity and the ability to dare to be different. It appears to work well, fit well and not detract from the overall shape of the vehicle. A vehicle which is heavily modified from original already.

It's your opinion, and that is mine.

Now where are your cars pictures for us to look at ?

i like it, credit to the man.
since when was practicality a huge factor in customising cars? looks like he's getting it ready for some offroading, and probably take it to a few shows. i like it, it looks awesome and yes, the barwork looks pretty sturdy, i'd like to see the end result!

And if you chop and channel it enough, you get a lower total opening height, so combining practicality with elegance and subtlety, like the "Pink Lady"....

Volkswagenboy - December 31st, 2005 at 03:14 PM

The problem with some people is that customising is buying a set of Aero's for ya L.
My father has a customised Pontiac (The rear window has been romoved and replaced with steel, plus the ride height is about the height of a crushed Coke can), people say why would you? I say why not!

DIY-DUB - January 1st, 2006 at 02:33 PM

baja - nasty
silver - looks ok, roof chop coulda bin done better tho
pink - overkill

helbus - January 1st, 2006 at 04:59 PM

At the end of the day who cares, the owners are happy!

If it was all done the same, we would all be driving Conformadores!

There's a good reason why Mercedes never made another car with Gullwing doors...

COZ THEY SUCK SUCK SUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cussing:cussing:cussing

I'm usually open minded, and I like the pink lady because it is a package and a classic show car, but that Baja is CRAP and silver car, well I'm sure the owners have long since repented.

I hope no one ever does that again, it's time to do tasteful things with beetles not ruin them.:o

I agree too. Think of all the chopped beetles in the world and what we have to live with. This is normal practise to see many different beetles in chopped up conditions.
Despite the paint job, it aint a bad ride. I'd be bloudy happy to have it in my shed.

GO BEETLES!!!!!!!!
