Bugger keeping that polished.......
Hope it wasnt chromed in Brazil........:cry

68AutoBug - March 12th, 2006 at 10:31 AM

It would be OK in Europe as chrome gets very HOT in our depleted ozone layered country......

At least it wouldn't fade???

tree sap and bird droppings would just wash off.....

I don't know if this photo is of a real chromed car....
but there is a fellow in Europe [eastern] who chromed his Beetles bonnet and engine lid..... chromed it himself....

didn't look all that good.....

Expensive enough doing that to 1 car but they have done it to 2 cars in those shots.

It's neither chromed nor poished... it is a paint.

Someone too the the POR15 wheel paint idea a step further. Rumour has it it only lasts a few years.

twoguns - March 13th, 2006 at 11:43 AM

hmmm. i htought the audi, being an all aluminium body was a polished finish and then coated. remember the article on it some where, but i am not into collecting much more than splitty pics. now if someone did a spplit like this....

firefly - March 13th, 2006 at 01:03 PM

Yes can conferm it is a paint. Yes it does not last too log as there is a uv breakdown issue. however under a bonnet it is hell cheaper than polishing/chroming.

Cheers
