dvs_vw - February 8th, 2007 at 03:39 PM

what are peoples opinions on these?

are 17s too big, I reckon they look awesome!

Anywhere in Aus that sells them, or would you have to import them yourself?

bugboymatt - February 8th, 2007 at 03:52 PM

See Above mate !!! They will be here :)

dvs_vw - February 8th, 2007 at 03:56 PM

yeah I've been keeping an eye on them, but they have been 'coming soon' for quite a while!

I like the style pictured above with the machined finish and the flat spoke, on CVD they look like chrome large versions of the original style radars, maybe thats just a picture for the sake of showing what they will look similar too, dunno!?!?!?

That Split used to belong to my buddy Dave, he is the one that built it... Real nice ride!

Spellbound - February 9th, 2007 at 03:13 PM

From a learner: Are these expensive here?

dvs_vw - February 9th, 2007 at 05:06 PM

I've been speaking to someone who imports them into Oz, about $1700 for a set of 4 wheels.....not bad, he has none at the moment, but has some on order, I'm thinking I may get a set.....howevere the twisted ones look nice too.....but the straight ones are more to my liking!

dvs_vw - February 9th, 2007 at 05:10 PM

on another note, what size tyre would you run on them being 17x7, would a 205/40/17 be too wide, especially if the car sat really low both front and rear, and if the front was narrowed about 4inches or more would it be a problem.....obviously the blue bug above has a pretty narrowed front end and sits damn low so maybe Slowlow, you'd be best to answer if any mods were needed and what size tyres etc were on it?????

Spellbound - February 9th, 2007 at 10:24 PM

Do they only come wide 5?

Dak-A-Tak - February 9th, 2007 at 10:36 PM

Arriving soon to Aust !!! will be Airevo wheels ,a much cheaper and very good quality wheel. I have seen them Rader x 15,17 x 205 mm, Fuch 15,17 x 130mm,112mm,
BRM rep x 15,17 x 205mm ,130mm,112mm . These wheels will all so come in different widths as well .
As these wheels are not from UK ,they will be much more
affordable for everyone.
This brand all so makes wheels for Porsche's as well and they go all around the world!

Jason, the guy I've been speaking to who imports the Escra's has none at the moment. he orignally bought in 3 sets, one set are in NZ, one on his 64, and the other on his buddy's DC split pictured above.

He has 10 sets on order and should be here in about 2 months, $1700 for a set, and hopefully he has my name down for a set, if your interested I can give you his email?

have been emailing the guy who manufactures these in the uk - he is looking for distrubutors in australia.

they ship in 100 rim lots - 25 sets. 15000 euro shipped for the lot.

this works out to be 600euro a set of 4.. which is about $1000 australian shipped per set.

if you can get three distributors that will each take 8 say then it would make it alot easier.

he is waiting for me to get back to him as they are manufacturing this coming week - if any of the sponsors are interested? hopefully with a sponsors mark up - it wouldnt be $1700..... either way ill get a set sooner or later.
