Ouch (Kombi pick)
Andy - May 20th, 2003 at 12:26 PM

For those feeling safe in a Kombi, here's one coming off second best with a yank tank. Supposedly the Kombi was doing 40km/hr and the other car 60km/hr.
The photo's from the 70's

I HATE SEEING A KOMBI IN PAIN:cry

A Kombie doesn't have much of a crumple zone. You guys with Kombies should add some sort of a accident absorbing bull bar to the front. Legs can be hard to replace.

:cry:cry i just keep telling yself that was pre-bumper crumple safety area.

Yes, the later bays had and extra bit of metal added behind the bumper (but a slightly weaker bumper!!) to add to the crumply zone.
It's a US pic, so the driver suffered a badly broken leg.
As for Kombi bumpers, I'm yet to be convinced they add much to protection. The leverage on them from the attachment point makes them quite weak in my opinion.
I think the best is to raise them to buggery and go over the top of them
