why oh why dont they paint it something decent??

The work in this :tu:

But what is the motor??
Pots are air cooled??
Overhead cams?? the belts??

trickysimon - May 6th, 2009 at 08:17 AM

Looks like twin superchargers to me :starhit:

cram - May 6th, 2009 at 09:26 AM

all that and still air-cooled...

squizy - May 6th, 2009 at 10:00 AM

Looks like it's had a respray from the 80's. I remember this being either a Hot VW's or VW Trends feature car with a different colour scheme. Got to love the old S&S quietpacks there.

matberry - May 6th, 2009 at 10:43 PM

Chris Addingtons Ghia if my memory still works....

vassy66T1 - May 7th, 2009 at 07:59 AM

very trick but agree that the paint actually detracts from it ... less is more dude!

trickysimon - May 7th, 2009 at 09:51 PM

Gringo_54_oval - May 9th, 2009 at 08:42 PM

that is nucking futts!
I cant beleive the work that went into the suspension.the paint job is tacky,1 colour wouldv looked way betterand what would make it sccchhhmik if it was parked in my garage.shiiiit!:tu:

bugzla - May 10th, 2009 at 07:02 AM

its great to see individuality with in the vw community and a show car of that standard would be up there for summernats if it was here in the country no matter what colour it was ............ i love it

beetleboyjeff - May 10th, 2009 at 09:15 AM

I must say, I certainly appreciate all the great work that has gone into this car. I guess when I look at any car, I am more looking for things that I like, and not whinging about things that I don't like. I would love to see the paint job in real life - I think it is the only way to form a definite oppinion, but if it still didn't do much for me, I would be looking at that interesting suspension, engine, and, well, nearly anything you look at on the car (at least, in the pictures).

a whole a forest of aluminium trees died to create that car...

the suspension is awesome. totally over engineered, but awesome. i'd love to see it driven in anger.

:tu:

Dirtbag - August 26th, 2009 at 01:22 AM

Wow. The machine work on the suspension is awesome, if not a little chunky. Love the twin blowers. Hate the wheels and paint job and flush fit side glass though. What is it about karmann ghia showcars looking crap? Rex Webster built a yellow convertible one years ago. We saw it at summernats. Quality was excellent, but it looked like dog $hit with no roof and centreline wheels with graphics. Just my opinion.

colonel mustard - August 26th, 2009 at 01:32 AM

I like that the discs are pretty much straight off the trans... makes me laugh, but looks cool. A forest of Alloy did die for this car, a moments silence please....

Dirtbag - August 26th, 2009 at 01:35 AM

Yeah colonel, the inboard discs look cool. Like a jag rear end. RIP alloy forest......

colonel mustard - August 26th, 2009 at 01:49 AM

Haha.

He also doesn't have an exhaust on there.... :S

colonel mustard - August 26th, 2009 at 01:51 AM

Nevermind.. Yes it does...

Joel - August 26th, 2009 at 08:18 PM

hes a member on thesamba and had the thread on the new resto of it

there is a vid on youtube of the engine running at a show back in the 80s
it actually sounded like crap but then those duel lowmounts always do

najoobk - December 4th, 2009 at 12:15 AM

Oh! my me . . . . sensational

zayus - December 8th, 2009 at 10:46 PM

F#@$!!!
That thing is horrible!
All that engineering, and a set of useless tyres are installed.*
Then, there is that hideous combination of purple paint, graphics and those wheels... f#@$!!!
That thing is horrible!

*The car is from the 1980's isn't it?
