This photo was taken at the '76 BP Mallee Desert Rally by a photographer who knew there was a big dip in the track that I couldn't see. It
was obout 1.5 m in the air.
Ian.
How did the old guts and bum handle that one, must have been a bit of a jolt on touch down!
Rob.......
Hi Robo,
it landed ok but hard and we didn't realise at the time that one of the steering box bolts had cracked and 20ks from the finish lost the
steering. We wired the steering box to the front end with a bit of "Farmers' Friend" (fencing wire) and continued on, finishing 5th in
the Baja class.
Ian.
Very cool:
he he.
Nice one!!! :thumb
Not quite a bug......but still a pretty cool jump....
And another
I've been about 1m in the air, but this is the highest photographic evidence I have
This was my original comments on the photo "Judging by how far I am past the top of the dune (on the very right) I figure I am on my way
back down in this shot. However the lovely camera-woman Sally is convinced her lightning reflexes have caught me at the highest point of my
jump."
Thats pretty high tho.
What sort of damage does jumps like these cause to your cars? Or better yet what precautions do you guys take to preserve your vehicle?
By the way those picture are sweeeet:bounce
i figured that that's why they were jumping on sand dunes...it doesn't do as much damage?
the racing shocks in my golf keep me fairly well connected with the ground, although, i do seem to have a bit of trouble with the front end sliding
when i drive around round abouts :P:P
woweeeeee
woweeeeeee
buggy bash a while ago, johnyB's car. the car ended clearing the table top by a long way, and table to was about 1.5m from memory

Take it to the the Beenleigh BMX track, no one watches there Lol.
come early in the morning on a tuesday, no one should be there, (IE: no kids to hurt)
dont trash bmx tracks with bajas or motorbikes they are designed for bmx..I want a baja to fly in.....
insane!
.
Hahaha... jumping vws, everywhere!
Rock on!
I've been pretty airborn in my buggy a few times. Heaps of fun, but I did crack the chassis eventually. I class the repairs as maintenance and will only jump it higher when it is back on the road...
