DubLeg - May 23rd, 2012 at 09:05 AM

Does anyone want to speculate what happened shortly after this picture was taken?

Wouldn't surprise me if a 60mm tophat batten failed under the weight of the car, bending the shed roof in/downward

helbus - May 23rd, 2012 at 08:10 PM

You could be told by the missus that all Beetle stuff has to go, and a Nissan Micra is being delivered on Monday.

Sides - May 24th, 2012 at 08:24 AM

I know... we could all spend a day posting up ideas without hearing "the answer" !!!

Almost like that old joke "How do you keep an idiot in suspense...."

VDU.88A - May 24th, 2012 at 09:09 PM

Floor pan rolled down the drive way ?

68BUS - May 25th, 2012 at 06:38 AM

Your wife realised you were using her good bath towel to mop up oil and offered the beetle for free pickup on Gumtree.
Consequently a man named Joe turned up to pick up the beetle in his Nissan micra dispite your wife saying 'Trailer or Ute required'??

Rotten cord holding up pushbike gives way to unnecessary bling on bike such as sidestand; rear wheel of bike lands on roof of Beetle creasing it badly while pedal goes through back window; extra localised weight on garage roof batten causes roof to collapse in; Beetle body falls down and forward onto pan, splitting the red plastic fuel container; petrol sprays everywhere, with fumes ignited by recharging-battery/other-sloppy-wiring; the initial explosion weakens the central support bringing the roller door crashing down onto the nose of the beetle, while at the same time upsetting the open container of waste oil, which, together with the poly mattress, provides excellent fuel for a jolly conflagration. By now the "radial powerguard" tyres are well and truly alight as the intense heat buckles the remaing frame of the door opening, freeing the pan to roll slowly, but with gathering impetus, down the mildly inclined driveway toward the freeway. On passing the weatherboard house with canvas awnings, the flaming pan with its fiery load of burning rubber and petrol bath sets the house on fire, before proceeding at a gathering pace toward the freeway.... At about this point, the intense heat im the shell of the garage has caused the far wall to collapse, bringing the tins of paint, solvent, bucket of general-purpose grease and the gas bottle on the upper shelf into play; the subsequent secondary explosion breaks all of the neighbours' windows. By this time, the huge toxic smoke cloud billowing from the wreck, a combination of gasoline, mattress, rubber, GTX, grease, paint, solvents and LPG fumes causes call-outs for the fire brigade, police and SES. Regrettably, before any of these services arrive, a Nissan Micra pulls to a stop at the driveway entrance just at the exact moment that the the fiery pan arrives at the bottom of the drive at terminal velocity.....

DubLeg - May 25th, 2012 at 08:41 PM

Whats the worst that could happen?:
The roof could collapse causing the body and a few bikes to collide with my chassis, bending the engine's delicate parts and chassis, all the glass could crack and I'd be stuck with a huge pile of mess and not be able to shut the roller door…

But it didn't and I achieved my custom lift kit.

For the record, I have two bikes currently, a 1971 Healing, single speed, and a 2007 SantaCruz superlight with no bling appart from what will help me dominate single track
