Looks Great! Saw it today at the Show - even better in person :)

Thanks for the compliment . Ludwig has a little dizzy problem today at the Nationals.
A massive you're a legend to Adam from Mountain Mechanics for getting me back on the road!
Think I've found my new mechanic right there.
Looks like he also picked up my R36, Caddy & T5 for service too.
A little random act of kindness goes a long way.

Very nice late 1960 model beetle..
early 60s had trafficators not indicators..

only missing the badge on the bonnet and the half/half tail lights

any more pics?

Lee

PS.My Dad had a dark blue late 60.. Lee

Lee,

It's not late 1960, probably mid year, dash has choke cable so must have originally been 36 horse. Late '60 had 40 horse engine with auto choke carby. Semaphores last year was in '59 but this car should have clear lenses on the front and you were right 50/50's on the back. hard to tell from pics but position of front blinkers on gaurds might be later too.

Also right about missing wolfsburg badge off the bonnet above handle with shorter chrome strip. Shouldn't have sliding covers on footwell heater outlets either.

More info here:http://www.clubvw.org.au/austvw001

Very nice car overall, details only matter if you want to chase trophies.

Regards,

Matt.

Yep it's definately a 1960. Upgrades are:
Disc brake front end and 12v conversion.
Yes it has sliding heater outlets and has the coloured lenses.
A couple of hidden add ons are 7 speed intermittent wipers and the ability to change the space/time continuum for intergalactic travel.
I'm chasing a Wolfsburg badge and a good Aussie hood emblem.
Anyway he's a joy to drive and always gets people smiling which can't be a bad thing in this world.
The cars now well known in Orange NSW. I constantly get people wanting photos in the car and have been asked to do weddings etc.
Funnily enough compared to my R36 Passat and C63 Merc, Ludwig gets more looks and is a much more engaging driving experience.
Had heaps of great compliments on the car at the Nationals and will be back next year with Ludwig and maybe a new project.

Matt.
