My standard 63 bug
vw40hp - June 11th, 2013 at 07:41 PM
This is my 63 beetle. I intend to lower it fit some BRMs and fit a better engine. I fitted new seat trims and will recarpet it then cruise. Its
totally rust free so i'm going to leave the body as it is for now
vw40hp - June 11th, 2013 at 08:27 PM
removed the cross and lifted the rear until I get drop plates
Burrelli - June 11th, 2013 at 09:05 PM
Thats a good Standard!
Looks to still have a bit of the pin stripe left on the side?
Is it still original paint?
A few more pics would be great, inside as well.
Not many early Standards around.
Looks like a 63 to me.

Thanks Guys
Turns out its a 63.
The pinstripes are all but worn off. might get them redone later
still the original paint with some vintage brush touch ups. lol
Was stored in a shed by an old lady in Cowra for 20 years after her husband passed away.
vw40hp - June 12th, 2013 at 09:00 PM
Here is the trimmed seats. I couldn't get the original material and had to settle for these. close but not correct. the floors are mint

vw54 - June 12th, 2013 at 09:09 PM
Keep it as it is
get another one to modify

I noticed that. no radio, no mirrors on the outside, one sun visor, rubber floor mats, no moulds and black 1/4 windows. Sure is povo. lol . obviously
for the budget minded buyer

Hell that is good!!
They did not paint Standards as well as Deluxes so it's rare to see one so clean and rust free.
Looks all original to me.
Does it have the interior light block off plate? I'm not sure from the photo.
Must be later 63 because I've seen one with no hole for the interior light.
Here is a link to a PDF of a 64 Aussie Brochure. Go right to the end and I think its a pic of a 63 Standard like yours when it was new.

There is no cover over the interior light hole in my bug. The brochure is cool. Do you know where I can buy a copy of that brochure.

The cover for the interior light is a rare thing, they are usaully missing.
I don't know where to get a brochure from except Ebay maybe.

If the cover was plastic it probably rotted and fell apart. I have been watching ebay for brochures but haven't seen any yet. I
have them for all my other cars.

I cleaned the dizzy up a little with carb cleaner and a rag, I replaced the broken cap and put a new set of points and condenser in.

Can't afford another and I have no more room. I also have 2 mustangs and a cj7 jeep. One mustang is living outside already.
