Hey guys
After talking about it for god knows how long
I've finally started my new project
Basically here's the plan, it is:
Street Beetle
1965 pan (converted to IRS & ball joint front end)
1960 body
Big wheels , big brakes , 2lt kombi auto , and 12A bridgeport rotary
something like this kind of
well this gives you a kind of idea of where I'm headed
I'm hoping to finish this build in a year
(which we all know means 2 , but gotta have a goal I spose)
old floors removed to make way for new ones
centre of chassis stripped back to bare metal
old nose peice (k&l pin , this will be removed and replaced with ball joint)
More chassis stripping back
IRS Pivot boxes installed
(Thanks to Mike/Borris Vintage VW for lending me the Jig)
(Thanks heaps to Beau for the help cutting and welding them in)
New (Ball joint) frame head grafted in
Running hard stainless lines through the tunell for radiator feed and return lines
Lines will come out holes in the side of the tunell at front and rear
I have an adapter plate and fly wheel for a 12a to beetle in the shed if you need one.

Thanks Shane
I'll give you a buz I haven't sorted it out yet
But I do need to sort out an adaptor plate and a flex plate for the auto
Need to check with Aaron as to what's needed as he's doing the box for me
Col
You are a crazy man you crack me up
I will be down starting on the trailing arms etc tomorrow
I'll check on those heads for ya mate
Sweet Stocko
Look forward to the progress. Off to a very nice start
lookin good
I am not a big fan of running very hot water pipes inside any where as they may be difficult to get to in the future and inside the tunnel is going to
hold a lot of heat.
But its not my car
be good to see another cool looking fast bug
cheers ian
Stocko....what can I say? Looking good mate, spose. Loose the stoopid H2O and it might turn out ok.....still, guess I'll check back now and then to see progress.
Awesome mate very cool project, What is the go with rotors in bugs now I thought they were no longer allowed?

Sweet dude.
Look forward to seeing this one progress.
My radiator pipes run through the car (each side of the tunnel), I just wrapped twice in heat wrap to minimise temp transmittance.
Bridge port rotaries are nuts. And talk with Aaron (20B kombi) about a T3 auto... He builds them to handle reasonable power for a good price

I would try and run water pipes down the side under the running boards
one each side for added cooling and to be able to use a smaller radiator.
also keeping the heat away from fuel pipes etc
Best thing to do to a old beetle, add a bit of water technology.

I will be keeping a very close eye on this build- want to see how you get the auto in and working. Reckon it's a great idea for another outside the square build.
I'll be watching too,rotor in a bug,hell yeah!!
hey guys
not alot of progress
at the pain in the ass stage of modifying everything
and dummy fitting (got to do it though)
bump stops removed (who needs those stupid things)
trailing arms cleaned up (ready to modify)
bearing carriers cut out to move in further
bearing carriers relocated
test fit (damn won't go very low)
will cut shock mount arms and rotate foward tomorrow for more clearance
to lower
Gonna be an interesting build, keep it up and nice work so far!
Just found this... How did it go?
