Its been a long haul with my 61 ghia, but end in site. Have now chosen painter , just purchased Mendela front end and Disc brakes, Odered Roll cage,
made a visit to see Boris at Vintage veedub and walked away with a CSP Carbon Fiber Air filter kit. Would have liked to have ready for Nationals but
it will take just a little longer so heres an taste
Uber cool
Awesome!
Sloping headlights, mmmmmm!
Did you just buy the outer mounting ring and fab it in, or did you cut the section out of some early guards?
Looking great.
Do you have an engineer that has ok'd the front end kit?
Cheers
D
Are you going to convert the body to LHD before you paint it ?
Used the lower section of a dash from a 58 Oval as adding gauges and still want oringinal looking dash. still to cut holes for the gauges.
have converted the rear to IRS , beatiful job down by Wayne Horsall also using custom made narrowed trailing arms.
Someone asked about how we did the headlights. Its not for the faint hearted watching it being done. Were lucky to hav a 356 sitting next to it so we
usedthe same profile from 356 to work out what looked good.. very happy with result.
The photo of the complete suspension was just to show the Mendeola
front end. This is what Ive actually ordered, and it comes ready for RHD.
Fitting Twin coolers at the front. This is the protective cover over the cooler.
That front end look IN_fN-SANE!!!
I am looking at a double wish bone front end for the car i am currently building, i see you have a mendiola front end for your car, can you please let me know how you are going with the engineering for it, i would be interested in one for myself.
I'll have to let you know once he has seen it. My panel beater is arranging all the engeniering as he does Hot Rods and cars for shows that are highly moodified. I know I may be taking a gamble but I'd kick myself if I didnt give it a go. I plan to have the Chassis on display at th VW Nationals.
I have also tried to engineer the same front end with out getting any prior approvals as it has fabricated spindles, no welding code and heat numbers for the material it is fabricated out of, two engineers in Queensland just said no, good luck in NSW, good job on your Ghia.
Great Stuff Alan!
Alan... where is this up to?
