we have a new restoration project - a (we think) 1960 beetle ute. There are lots of questions regarding parts sourcing.
Where is the best place in SA to source parts such as rubbers, seals, decals, running boards etc.
Is this actually a 1960 beetle - the chassis number is 2586373
what is this vent for and why is one open and the other sealed?
are these original 1960 headlights or where may i get a new set?
you need to get the number off the chasis from just in front of the inspection plate for the front gearbox coupler
On the gearbox tunnel? That was the 2586373 number, I looked it up and looks like a 60s
My mistake - i was looking for a 11XXX number, but they came later
Could be a 1959 by vw-resource.com
1959 (1 Jan 59 to 31 Dec 59)
Chassis 2,226,207 - 2,801,613
Engine 2,721,314 - 3,424,453
The engine is a replacement so can't use that. Does anyone know what year those headlights are from?
Headlights are aftermarket Rossi. Not original VW.
The horn should be mounted behind the "vent"
Great! Looking forward to seeing the progress on this!
Cool little beast.
Das Resto Haus will post to you for parts.

Keep us posted.
P.S. Rossi Headlights are quite a sort after accessory, so don't go throwing them away if you decide to go with a stock set. You could easily sell
them.
anyone know of a ute like this for sale in NSW as my son was after a second car for his mowing business and that would be very differnt!
Cool ute Mate. I remember one like that used to float around the northern suburbs, even out as far as Gawler when I was in my teens. Any idea of its history?
