Im wondereing how many of her 1499 brothers and sisters are still out there?
This is mine no.128/1500. Unrestored and patiently waiting to be registered again after sleeping for the last 10 years but not forgotten. To be honest
she's spent most of her life in retirement, only travelling 15,00miles in 25years.
Is this one of only a few left? They were advertised as the "Collectors Bug" likely to appreciate in value! So they said in 1972. I doubt mines
worth any more over a regular 1300 beetle.
What does the VW community Think??
A few of the unique accessories that came with the car include Special dash trim, Glovebox plaque, Key ring, Factory fitted carpets and Red wall tyres.
I think it would be worth more over a regular model in same condition to a collector.
Great to see such a time capsule.
Love it

Thanks Lauzboy! I'm interested in how these cars were numbered, where they badged at random or a batch of 1500 hundred beetles numbered 1-1500 in order of production? mines#128, Build Date:6/72, VIN: 1122391212, Engine: AB467660 Reg: LFS 046. Sold on the 29/10/72 at Smiths of Mentone Vic.

I have the glove box lid including the medallion for car number 1199! It was a red 1600S which had fallen into the hands of a wrecker. Bad rust. I
bought the white seats and trims plus the glovebox lid..
must be doing maintenance.
mines 1002. was originally blue but now red.
Do you know the engine and chassis number? What state was i first registered? 1600
i could find those detail. but its not on the original chassis as it was stuffed and mine, the previous one had the engineers certificate on it and i
sold the engine and gear box when i bought it. theres a two month difference in pan to body,
its a 2L T4 ATM.
it was nsw where it was first registered as it was one that belonged to one of my old mans customers.
ok mate no worries.. we know where No 1002 is .. thanks appreciate your time. Rob
Here's one I found on carsales. #636. built 1 month before mine, Originally sold at the same dealership in December.
Another find.. Lets see how many turn up.... Wonder who got No 1?Maybe Volkswagen kept it.. Finky do you have a contact number or email address. would like to talk. Rob
H Finky
I have a medallion on bought recently on ebay.. Its No 1472. I believe it was not from a cr but from the manufactures archive "amor" interesting
isn't it
the badge does appear to be new
I've got #251 😊 under reno at the moment but still alive in Portland😊
Hi Rob sent a PM not sure it worked but my email is matto_finko@hotmail.com
That seems like a strange item. I remember seeing some medallions on ebay a few years ago but they had no numbers stamped on them. Not sure why yours
would be numbered?
So far we have Beetle #115, 128, 251, 636, 1002 and wrecked beetle 1199.
The news paper clipping is just from a Google search.
