My Daily driver is a 2008 Crafter, but needed a little run about and by chance driving down to meet some new friends in the Southern Highlands of NSW
I saw this on the side of the lane which ended up being owned by someone i Know! this little green bug.
Its funny you might sell your dubs for various reasons but your eyes are allways on the prowl for hidden gems in sheds yards etc, and im allways
asking farmers if they ever see any call me!
and then it turns out to be a friends?? go figure.
any woo its mine all mine
..working out the year? august 1960?
Awesome! What are the plans?
im going to get her regod first with a stock motor etc until a big RAT or polished overhaul in a year or two
more
Looks like a good project, look forward to following if you do post it up here

Cheers sander will do!
Ohh!! that's nice.
It's the right colour too!!!
Nice 50/50 taillights in the back of your van.
Will follow with interest.
Congrats.
CHeers Carl and Emily yeah Apart from the floor shes rust free heater channels and all still original paint just teh interior seats are stuffed?
nice head lights with vw logo
heres the worst of it!
now is this pan salvagable? a drivers side quater replacment will be done but I'm unsure about the bottom of the tunnel pressed plate it has some
rust holes in the mid section found hammering around.
Im I able to repair this area "professionally" and get it re registered? in NSW?
more pics
Now shes in dry Storage and its time to plan the mild resto.
1 x stock 36hp motor Check.
quite good in the body , just the pan...
that's a body OFF job both floor half's will have to be replace
I would strip it and have the floor center section blasted first chisel off the old pan half's no need to blast them
keep the seat runners as they don't come with the pan half
And so a 1967 pan will not fit??
yeah 67 pan will fit
I thought you wanted to keep original ??
I have a mint 60 pan if you want to swap for your 67 pan ? As long as your 67 pan is excellent too ?!
Yes mine is perfect! Sounds like a plan!
Ok!
Doors off, cleaned out, ready to lift the pan off for the better one.
now shés in a nice dry place .
this is the only rust issue in the whole body, thanks to kids playing in it as a cubby house, forcing the rusted door hinges it's fractured off the
inner bit that holds the inner part of the hinge bracket.
looks like i might have to cut the pillar to re weld then re weld it back??
take the front guards OFF the cut the metal section out of the front 1/4 panel you will be surprised what come out of there
Best repair section for the front pillar is from VVDS really good quality and will fit up easy
that body is so clean when you get it off the pan get the water and air hose into action to was all the dirt n grud out of the inner panel and
hack saw blade works good to get into all the tight and thin areas to unblock the drain holes get some rust converted when it clean then
some good wurth or similar oil / wax
Ah! Ok ! Thanks for the tips Dave.
i'm on it!
its coming together, its nice having a big van!
And got this from Boris
