Hi Folks,
The Penguin has been off the road for a month getting painted. It was white, and had been sprayed using spray cans. It was in a pretty bad state.
Now, it's back, better than ever!
try this
Another beutiful Kombi brought back to how she should be!
Well done Pete, top job..:thumb
Rob......
Top work kombipete. The penguin should be good for another 30 years:P
Looks great kombipete. You've gotta be happy with that!
Thanks guys,
i am pretty happy with it, considering the state of it when i bought it. There was a fair bit of rust, uneven panels, and the original paint had
peeled and had just been painted over (!!!??), many times with white spray paint.
The new paint is volkswagen dolphin blue with antique white. It took four weeks to do, with the body completely rubbed back. There was a substantial
amount of rust, with most of the rust cut out a few months prior to the respray. Rust included under the guards, under most of the windows,
especially where the 1/4 windows were, and at the base of the front window (the usual pozzies). All rubbers have been replaced and all 1/4 windows
have been removed, replaced with louvres, sliding window, and a fixed window. I am hoping to get some sliding windows on the rear RH and LHS, but
apparently they are hard to come by.
I decided to go with the matt black bumpers and bullbar and I think that it turned out pretty good, white would have been too much white.
Pete
