The time has come to start work on my 67 beetle. :bounce
The bug is a pan off resto/kustom which will feature two tone paint, full re-trim, be slammed with a narrowed adjustable beam, feature whitewall
crossply tyres and a laod of accessories. I will do 100% of the work myself.
I have started with a two owner bug from Tassie.
Can't wait to see the end result
Interior trim is tatty and rh floor is totally rusted.
I have lifted the body off the pan. Here is the RH floor cut off and cleaned up.
looking for 60s pans to go on that backbone?
I've got a chassis at home was gonna send to the tip. the pans are good.
yours if you wanna pick it up....
As it sit's today. New pan half welded on. I will replace the new battery clamp and air shute with the old ones's off the original pan as the new one's look anal.
Got the adjuster's, ready to weld into the beam.
So to do that you need to take off 6 inches, weld those in, and you have a 4-5 inch narrowed beam!
N!
ooh :o I like the idea of the whitewalled crossplys. Definately be one sick ride!
How is the tire height looking? I dunno the height of XPlys, but from memory they're damned tall so could hit the tops of guards. I doubt it, but
may be worth checking with some of the volksrodders who run xplys without guards.
nice looks pretty shmick at the moment cant wiat to see more picks :thumb
Good shit Dame.:thumb
Lookin good bro!
We can see a bit of a VW logo I think on your arm - can you take a pic of it?
I think our fearless leader (Jim) also has one.
Andrew
Hey Andrew,
Mate, that tat is of my little boy's and girl's name's.
Just got my 5 rims back from the blasters. I have painted them in POR15, they are now waiting for 2pack primer then paint.
The crossplies I have are 550-15, a very skinny tyre. They are not super tall though, no wont have any rubbing probs. I have a set of Cocker brand w/w
crossies on my daily driver and they have a very tall side profile.

OK, the last couple of week's I have been doin my pan.
After getting it back to bare metal I prepped the steel and painted it POR15. After the 2 coat's cured i took off the shine and sprayed a light
coat of stone shield. Next, 3 coat's of grey 2pak that I had mixed to match the original colour.
Here I have fitted the sound pads and rear brake pipes etc.
Here is the underneath.
(I am spewin, I had a photo of the pan on it's side painted but the computer ate it.:cussing)
And another...
I have also had the gear rod out and replaced all bushes and re-greased all joints. Also stripped and repainted the handbrake and gear stick.
Now onto the beam.......
whats goin down with the body?? pan looks sik!
cheers
rhys
lookin sweet Damian
I think the D sign will look good on ur bug
Should be here this week, keep up the good work man.
BTW is it much trouble painting the handbrake and gearstick, thinking of doing it - urs looks shit hot in white
Great work!
looks like another show winner comming up!
Rob...
Thanks, I am happy the way it's coming together. I can't wait to have it finished.
The body is sitting quietly. I am completing the pan first then straight on to it.
The paint on the g/stick and handbrake has been matched from original and is a ivory cream colour. (Looks white in photo). Funny thing is, I have 2
german gear stick knobs and they are the same colour as all the other knobs but the one I have screwed back on is the same part number, but has a
little aussievw symbol underneath and has a speck on it and is darker.
I have to sandblast the seat frames soon, then i will also paint them the same ivory/cream colour. If you want Costa, i can paint your g/stick &
h/brake at the same time.
sounds like I an idea
