Not that I don't have my hands full enough trying to finish my other 63 project (see posts in this section), I also have this 68 beetle project
(which I have used the original pan for my 63).
I was fortunate to obtain the body already massaged and painted from a good mate so I cannot take the credit thus far. One piece windows have been
installed, tinted windows and a nice black vinyl headliner.
The colour is a BMW dark blue (unsure of exact name). I will be using a 66 pan from a UK bug (body had to be scrapped due to rust) that had spent time
in NZ before making its way here to Oz. I will be doing a body off resto and will be selling this one (have to make way for the split double door
panel which is next). I won't be going all out like the 63 but still show worthy (but not to the point where whoever buys it will be scared to
drive it!).
Here are some pics. Progress will be slow until I finish the other bug!
Alan
and a few more...
nice headliner, and custom dash (all done by my mate before purchasing the beetle).
NOS sticker in rear window will be removed though...no fire breathing monster for this bug, maybe just a healthy 1776....or maybe 1916...we'll
see.
It will be receiving these wheels (originally from the UK bug)...may have the rears widened though...maybe whitewalls....not sure yet. Unless I can find another pair of rostyles (south african steel wheels)...I only have two of them.
mmm. dark blue looks very cool!
Wicked colour
