well what can i say picked up this splitty
last weekend after a guy over heard me at work talking about kombis, ask me to have a look and then gave me her, said id like to see someone enjoy
her, didnt even ask anything for it just said its yours. i gave him a carlton of beers which he was stoaked about and i couldnt wipe the smile of my
face.
the smile grew bigger when i got it home and went over it
no rust in the nose
no rust in the corners
only rust in one sill under the doors in the back and a bit of floor rust in that area maby 300mm x 1500mm
and some rust under the drivers feet about the size of a fifty cent piece. im thinking that this thing has lived in tamworth all its life. anyways
heres the photos
the guys son had some fun being creative on the side
good paint work... airbrush??? lol
oh yeah the conditions that he allowed me to have it was if he could come in and see how she was going allong and i think the other one was enjoy
it....mmmm i think that may be just possable..
u hottin it up wat!!!
just goes to show.
talking v dubs is never a waste of time....
looks like a sweet project...nice work
that would make an awesome rat keep the paint!
i think ill go for a burnt orange allong the bottom and white up top
Mate looks like the tafe lessons will pay for themselves very soon. Looks like a great starting base. Have fun.
Mate you must be well happy. YOu've come up trumps this time, well done.
With not much work to do and no out lay great you can spend the dolla on finishing rather than buying it !!!!
let me just say first... WELL DONE! :thumb
and second be aware when you say 'no rust'.
splitty's rust from the inside out around the nose and sides. so at the moment you cannot see any as it is standing up well . mine was like that
when i first got it, but sure enough as time went on the rusty bits started to come thru. lucky a mate and i had only given it the gloss treatment.
now that it is in your hot little hands, might i suggest you flood those sensitive bits with kill rust or the like. just poor it into all hte gaps and
down the pillars. this will help you to preserve the old girl longer with out having to go thru all hte replacement panel stuff.
Great score, looking forward to see what you do with her, keep the pics coming :thumb
It's karma dude....you di dthe right thing in passing on the bay twin cab for thr 'right' price and your VW world has just moved into
balance!
I think that if you carefully wet sanded it most of the decorative paintjob would come off and the old girl would be looking good!

cheers guys
yeah twoguns, i do like u said expect to find more but ill do as u say and get on to it so if it os a prob then it wont get worse.
yeah i hope my tafe will come into play soon at the moment the teachers hate me. what was it he said last night
"Dammm u ask alot of questions" turns out one of my teachers is into bugs.

deon
mine looked solid as when i got it. and it actually got a clean and sprayjob, plus mechanical work. but no rust repairs. lasted about two to three
years.
wish i had known about 'the rust from inside out' at the time. think it couldve saved me little.
below is a pic of original.
