In the final stages of preparation after a hell of a busy week. The shell was really straight without too much rust.. we had to weld a couple of new
sections but most was panelled out and smoothed
Painting on Thursday..

Update..
Today, tripped out to Volksbahn and bought some serious rubber and shiny bits
Inside/Outside Scrapers
Indicater rubbers(front)
Window balley channels
Rubber steps for front bumper
Door/Engine rubber seals
Chrome eyebrows
a few other bits.. Total $513.50
Update..
Bumpers have been sprayed with drum/caliper metallic enamel.. This will last a long time.. Or until I get the chrome done.. I have a contact now
called "all metal bumpers" in SYD.. They do hot rods, hi chrome resto's (AC Cobra's etc).. I'll get round to this later.. For now I just want to
get on the road and show off Tonka..
Here's a couple of bumper pix..
Rob
If you're doing this.. It is definately worth the 60 bucks for new rubber
Nice work, wish I was that quick and motivated, keep the pics coming :thumb
Top work. Keep the updates coming. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Update
Shell stripped down.. Doors off.. Panels had two men on them for two days.. Sheez.. ready for hi fill..into booth tomorrow.. then rub down.. primer
coat.. check for blemishes.. into booth again.. two top coats.. out of booth.. rub down.. finish coat.. Job might be finished by next Wednesday.. Hard
not to be impatient.. Worth the wait.. Thinking a sunflower yellow top coat.. Call it Tonka..
Rob
Awesome......another one restored, the more the better! Welldone.
Update..29Mar04
Came out of the booth and started the rub down.. I can't believe how straight she is!.. Just goes to show that the hours spent on the prep are worth
it.. Christ, I hope that we didn't miss an oxidised metal!
In the next few days we will rub the hifill back and primer coat.. Then two top coats followed by a final rub and then the finish coat.. Hopefully by
the end of the week, I can start putting all the bright bits back on..
Cheers for now
