Hi,
Been on here a while but never had a good pic of my van to post. Went to the NZ Nationals over Easter with a friend who had a camera, so have a few
shots finally!
It's a '66 that I bought off some monks in a retreat up in the bush about 4 years ago now. It had been stored unused in a barn for 17 years, so was
solid. I've added lots of accessories and use it as my daily driver, it's my first and only vw I've owned.
Hopefully the attachment works.

Very nice mate.
Hi Man
Dead set, can't do much better than that for your first VW. Very nice indeed!
What are the VW shows like over there, and what are the names of some of the big ones. I have a friend that is thinking of moving over there for a
couple of years, and he wants to find out about the NZ scene.
Rob...
The show scene is pretty lame compared to other parts of the world. We have the Nationals every Easter, and the Spring Jamboree in Oct/Nov, that's
about it! There are a few cruises throughout the year as well.
There are some pretty awesome vehicles over here though, for a small country there's a lot of stuff hiding away.
MMmmmmm......you gotta love that.Awesome bus Daniel, would love to see some more photos.:thumb:thumb:thumb
Here's one of the front splittychick. I'll be able to get some others on the weekend too.

Wow thats a great pic.I'm lovin your bus Daniel,i find myself sneaking back in here for a peek all the time!!
Hey Dan, SICK BUS!!! Can I be so rude as to ask how much it set you back? And what's the market for splitties like over there? Are the prices going through the roof, same as over here?
Prices for good buses are going up just like everywhere. But there's still some good ones to be found.
I bought mine off some monks for NZ$5000, but have put heaps more into it since then!
Wow, your bus looks awesome. Monks, cool....
Steven
You've got to look in some wierd places sometimes!
Heard a story about a 23 window over here that was bought from a cult. Their 'king' was driven around in it, he sat in the back and used an intercom
to tell the driver where to go!
did u get any work done at VW shoppe??
cheers
rhys
Yeah, they're my local mechanics, so anything I can't manage, I get them to do.
i think i seen your bus there about 3 years ago (around october) getting indian automotive lowering gear installed????
cheers
rhys
That was around the time I had it stripped and painted. It wasn't in for lowering at that stage though, that had already been done.
Must have been my bus though, there is only one other red/white split I know of, and he's all stock.
sweet as dude it was sitting in the barn next to his workshop when we was there!!! was a big insipiration to me at the time as i didnt have a splitty
then!!!!
he has some good old wrecks on his farm too!!
cheers
rhys
That was mine, just back from the paint shop!!
You should've asked to have a look in his other barns too, some cool old stuff hiding away there.
ahahahahahahahahaha sweet as dude i also remember from a VW shop in rotura(SP??) we went to a VW mechnic there and in the front of the shop was a 15
window that had rolled from a wheel falling off!!! and guess what it was his drive to run the engine in from a complete restoration that cost him over
$30000!!!!!!!
small world hey!!!!
I know that guy too as I'm originally from Rotorua, his barn is huge (full of judson's and other rare stuff!).
I remember that bus, the bolts holding the end of the springplates and the bearing housing came off and the wheel dissapeared round under the back!
They were extremely lucky no-one was hurt.
ahahahahahahahahahaha dude this is truly amazing!!!! its really wierd but i shall come over and meet you in another year or so!! (talk the oldies in
taking me over!!)
its sad to see all the pommies stealing all your splitties (so some hippy we met in a carpark of a motel we were staying at sad that was driving a
splitty at the time!)
cheers
rhys
Dan where are all the rest of the pics of the van, you holding out on the others here...lol

i got a mate from rotorua and my girlfriend is from kawerau!!! my girl had me convinced that they call it rotovegas as she told me it was a casino town like vegas, hahahaha, i got sucked in..........
I grew up in rotorua, I think it gets called rotovegas cause it's where every tourist ends up going.
