The Vital Stats:
1957-sort of original.
1916cc . Low compression .
Forged Pistons . Counterweighted crank .
Heads Ported . 1.4 ratio rockers . Mild cam . 1 5/8 drag merged extractors . Is Overdue for supercharger; aiming for 8 lbs boost - Magnacharger
"80 ci" . 1500 Gearbox . adjustable front beam . Big brakes off squareback . Inertia reel seat belts . Golf high back seats .
.
oh & fun to drive.

Aim to put spats on - why does the painting look better than the touched up photo?

Cool Dude!
I Like the colour - olivey green Bit of a sleeper?
What carbs you running Glen?
Do you have that Super charger yet or still on the board?
The really sad thing is I've had the blower for 10 years. I've had the Fuel injection for 8 years. On my latest project update I decided not
to Inj { to try to speed up project & also some blower cooling issues for street set up.}.
The present Carburetion is Very Sad...I just stuck on Pict3 to run the engine in ,and well , got distracted, still on. Tell you what , its the
quickest standard carb engine around. Severly Jetted-Out.
-- The colour of the car is probably a little Greyer than in pic. It looks Very old. Only thing that gives it away is the big exhaust - I will hide
this .
Was just told tonight that my blower pulleys are ready. Please tell me if you can see the image of my mock up eng below. I'll prob have to link
it ehhh.

better view of my water cooled manifold-1/2 built
You could always get one of those stupid rag doll things you see people have at car shows......you know the sort - those stupid stuffed kids hiding
their faces against the car.
You could shove it up it's @rse and have it holding onto the lid :o
ROFL@Barry's suggestion!!!!!

Queen of Chat
LMAO!
that sounds like a plan!

With a backwards facing VW cap........
Good lookin car, bit of a sleeper with the 1916 and blower. Yee haa. I noted that you have inertia belts in the 57. How did you get these in with out
fouling the semaphore or don't you have them fitted.
Did you fit them yourself or use a specialist?
I have laps only in my 57 and feel a little nervous driving in Melb traffic sometimes. Windscreen is awfully close.
I did fit the inetia reels myself. There is a Kit for seat belts "fitting new seat belt brackets to older cars" I got it from Rare Spares up
on Parramatta Rd Near Sydney. the draw back is that to miss the semaphore area , they have to go fairly high. They are simply High tensile bolts with
spacers and wahers - correct threads. So have to drill hole through pillar - ouch...not best option , but I too was feeling Vulnerable especially with
the accelaration of mine. Now the Golf inertia's that I'm using are not really long enough. but I intend to mount the Belt Coil up on
Sturdy bracket to over come this. The part that annoyed me was having to drill holes through my Immaculate 1957 floor pan.
Thanks Glen, will give rarespares a call about the kit. Did you use the inertia reels out a Golf?
I'm not that fazed about the floor as the holes are already there. More fazed about the hole my head would make in the windscreen. One thing
about driving old cars in big cities is that it sure makes you aware of other motorists. :o
Got Blower Drive from Mike Kristen.
Had to set it up (Mock up anyway ) to see how things would line up.
The Carby is 45 Sidedraught, I'm not using that air cleaner, The red string is lining up the pulley wheels. Notice how close to Generator pulley
goes. May have to adjust set up.

The supercharger I have is the best one that I could get at the time (bought about 14 yrs ago). however there are better ones around now. In keeping
with my Blower obsession, I happened to notice this one for sale two weeks ago in USA. 930 US when seen. sold for 1200 US.
If I had finances i would have bought it.
This is the Latham Blower. Axial , One moving part. Has Turbine sections inside.
Very efficient. Probably fairly quiet.
Run at around 6 times engine speed.
This one was set up for small block V8 But I would love to run it slower on my VW.
Sections can be taken out to reduce blower size / boost.

Pic courtesy of Peguin on the cancelled Ovals Only day...
on a Flat Four run
The previous pic - the left rear was sitting up 20mm and this made the front right lower. ... But notice the optical illusion "how small the
front wheel appears"
partly due to camera optics - the front is 15" , see front view above (after I levelled the rear).

pic here is digital mock up of blower on motor and spare wheel cover concept.Note will not be on w deck lid !
Aww what? You're not going to cut up a W lid?
A good part of the joy of cutting is when you know it's rare! Hahaha
So gonna go with the spare wheel idea....?
I'm not sold on the spare wheel idea but seeing I had the pic in photo shop I thought I should whack it on forum.
.........Probably the luggage rack with distortion would be my fav.
Just would take me long time to make.
what is the compression on your motor? is it still 7.5.1 or was it changed with the engine rebuild?
That's a pretty serious looking blower!! Have you any idea
what sort of power you are expecting?
When increasing bore to 94's the comp ratio tends to go up toward 9 to 1 depending on flycutting / chamber etc. I installed large spacers on mine
to bring comp down to 7.8 :1.
With 7 lbs boost this brings dynamic compression or equivalent comp to around 9:1.(I could look up my calcs but am tired2:45am)
-
the supercharger is "A piece" she looks great but is slightly smaller than the 2L Toyota blower - readily available.
Mine is longer and thinner. will effortlessly pump 10 lbs if geared that way. Power is easily adjusted by changing boost.
I intend max of 8 lbs boost and expect 100 HP (not too exciting)and will only rev to 5800 RPM but the torque and light car will make it accelerate
like a Big Block V8. I intentionally fitted large diameter Rear wheels - Blowers love to push big gear ratios. "Its all about GRUNT".
Just wish my welder was working so could finish Manifold.
There are a few sayings around that would be applicable!
"If it ain't blown. It ain't goin'!"
"If it's not blown, it sucks"
I think the forced induction of an airpump is fantastic idea.
Do you know the size of the blower?
It looks about 1.2- 1.5 litre?
Oh, in reagards to the inertia seatbelts, there is an article you can look up.
http://www.ehholden.com.au
go to the GARAGE TECH section, and 'fitting inertia seatbelts' is listed in the menu.
There are pics and all. It isn't VW, but the principles should still apply, as the conversion done was to engineering specs.
Peter & Fleur, the blower is "classed as MC80 " , It is 40 Cubic Inches. just as comparison the 2L Toyota blower is 43 ci.
My 1916 cc is equal to 117 ci but luckily you dont need full volume filling (due to flow inefficiences). Because its a four stroke...... 2x40 ci gives
80 ci
will be running 1.25 ratio .. 1.25 x 80 = 100 ci.
In comparison I think the 2L is 123 ci.
They run 1.3 x 43 x 2 = 112 ci.
I tried to calc boost but this is a difficult
job. I believe I have a good starting point .
Mike Kristen made the Blower drive to be
easily adjusted " bolt on new pulley wheel"
so I will have to try and see.
the first colour was Burgandy. I finally found the only pic, even this was when it was loosing paint. ( Non UV stable paint )
been trying out different looks lately, first lower.......
then blades...
and the back... I may need to hide that exhaust
