i have decided to craft my skills with a mig on ned kelly the bus i was going to use this bus for parts for my 60 resto but have decided it must live
on ,i am not a welder so this bus will be used for learning as the only other bus i have done welding or painting on is my phone booth kombi ,it
turned out okay so will keep posted with progress ,i am in the process of moving sheds and when we get settled in i will build a rotisserie and away
we go i have signed up at wodonga tafe to do a mig course stage 1 out of 5 stages ,it starts on july 17 so i will start chopping out rusty metal until
then and have a bit of a thorough look ,i had a look at the metwiz site and that gives me some insentive ,those guys's rock

as you can see that is why i have named the bus ned kelly , he was a great guy ,he gave me the bus for free so we are off to a good start
David you've got a nice rat look happening already :thumb
A very nice find.....wow, and for free!!!!
i am going to do all the panel work myself,so that will be interesting ,i don,t think it will be up to bel standard which by the way is coming up a treat more a resto to challenge me a bit ,will do plenty of progress shots by the way did you go to wagga jenz
man that is a picture worth framing "the one of the splitty "not Ned Kelly
i wish i could find something like that
looks awsome in the flesh ,i,ll start taking orders

Hey you can say you restored it yourself...I never can
It's pretty awesome what's happening out there in some of our members sheds
Nah...didn't get to Wagga...and doesn't sound like you did either...I haven't hear much about it cos I missed a club meeting
Wow david, that's a great find. How does one find this kind of thing? Just drive along every farm track, keeping a lookout?
Best wishes for the resto. Good on ya for learning skills (tafe welding course) - that's kinda what I'd like to do, but I've got this whole
Bachelor of Engineering (Mech, yay!) to finish off first.
It's great to know that yet another grouss splitty will be alive and well again.
Cheers mate,
Aurel (loves busses)
i am looking forward to doing the work ,looks like alan schofield will do allright out of me anyway that is basically how you find them out here in
the country ,people know that i fart around with old vw's, so often people ring me and tell me about them ,like i saw this funny old van it was kinda
weird you know it had two front windscreens and all these windows in the roof ,
[Edited on 20-6-2004 by david]
and you're thinking "Mmmmmm..funny old van weird you...... two front windscreens and all these windows in the roof...SPLITTIE !!!!"...You hide your
thoughts and SOMEWHERE in the conversation you DISINTERESTEDLY/matter of factly ask where they saw it.....BINGO!!!! :thumb Your heart is racing ....... you don't hear the rest of the conversation....you are praying for it to end so you can go have a look
or call......
I couldn't help myself here David...... slow day
It's such a sweet score and is a great tale...well and you started it..or planted the seed....
p.s. and you have to continue the tale
