Have a mate fixing and spraying a Kombi for my mother. Coming up real good. Here are the progress shots. Some of the dates on the pics are obviously wrong.

hey i have one of those original vw sunroofs if anyone is intrested
,the bay is looking good i should have mine back on thursday from a respray cant wait

type_one - July 14th, 2004 at 07:54 PM

For simplicity and authenticity we convinced her to keep it the same colour. Has been in the family since 81 and does have some probelms but overall pretty good. I remember when I was around 15 trying to convince her not to cut the roof to put that bloody dodgy sunroof in. Oh well it happened and now it is being filled back up.

So what are you going to do for the head liner???

A new one???

Yep - same colour is better. Tis a cool colour anyway.
What is it by the way?
74 1800 manual??

She should be happy soon

type_one - July 15th, 2004 at 08:21 PM

Got a new head liner coming from the states. Should be good. The year is 73 Microbus. Has a 1.8 ltr motor.

ducky - July 17th, 2004 at 06:49 PM

good one, how much for the headliner?

11CAB - July 17th, 2004 at 07:00 PM

You can tell by the fuel filler cap that it is a 73.... up to 72 the flap was further forward, then in 73 it was moved back, then in 74 it was changed to the round cap without the flap.
It should also be a 1700

Not sure of all up cost on the headliner yet. If it make it through customs. Fingers crossed. They sometime do then not to dear but if it get hit them maybe a bit cheaper than you can get em here.

Also it was a 1700 but am fairly sure when the motor was rebiult a while back it was changed to 1800.

Been painted for a while now. Slowly put it back together for them. All new rubbers. Seats reupholstered. Still a few little things to do but otherwise complete and looking good. Except as my wife said it needs to be lowered now.

A big thanks to Craig (wrecker67) for your patience with everything, your brialliant spraying and most importantly for being an all round great guy. Obviously without your help this never would have happened.
