The doglegs have been cut out & also the passenger floor but we forgot to get the repair panels beadblasted as they are powder coated.....so
hopefully the beadblasters can squeeze us in over the next couple of days.....
The cargo sill was full of rust(aren't they all!!!!!!!!!)so out it comes & ready for the repair panel............
Wow..that looks pretty neat...what are they working on here? Is the angle giving them better access to that side they are on?
Mandie give us a pic of the other side where that big window was cut out on the panel...can they put window pillars in so you can go for a more
standard window? Have they given you any ideas at the workshop?
All the windows are not standard Jen.....I'll see if i've got a photo of the big one though.I don't mind them....makes it a little different but just might make it harder to get some sought of popouts installed,if you know what i mean.I think i need to have at least one of the back windows open just for fresh air if you're travelling in the back.I don't want it to go back to a panel either so we'll see what i can do!!:thumb
This is a photo of the larger window Jen........before it was stripped & beadblasted...........
Can they put a pillar/s in to fit two or three more of pop out windows... ?...or at least the same size so you can swap them over when you find
some?
Is that other window you have a standard size on that side?
Here's an old splittie pic I found...
...and now
Hey SC, who's doing the work?
Raf
Heh Raf,a guy called Stu is doing the work.....he's in Ferntree Gully. He's always at the VW events around Melbourne & he gets on here now &
then.
Just got my hands on a bulkhead coz as you can see from the pics the tyre holder had been cut out.So i've just about sourced all the repair bits i
need now.:thumb
Good luck and keep posting pics. I know Stu, his Forum name is Rotn59 I think
Yep thats him......thanx Raf,will post some more pics soon.:thumb
Isn't it funny how they always look worse before they look better ?????
I can't wait to see it when it is finished !

Nice work splittychick....keep 'em coming
My fabulous body work guy(Hi Stu if you're reading!!!!)has been working hard whil i've been away & my splitty is coming along nicely.Heres afew
before & after shots.......
The passenger rear corner had obviously had a bingle at some stage........before..........
& after.......................
The front was an absolute mess.I couldn't find the pics i took after the bumper was removedn but you can get the general idea....it was very, very
rusty.Before...............
& after....................
aint nothing better than watching one come to life again... but it gets addictive.:duh
nice work
The cab floor was rusted both sides.Heres the before shot of the drivers side...............
& after..................
damn its starting to get along ! lookin good
Someone had done something really funky to the wheel arches...& when i say funky i don't mean cool!!!!So i bought some new wheel arches. This is
what they looked like when i got my bus.........
& now my "new" wheel arches. They look fantastic...........
The bottom of the cargo doors were rusted at the bottom inside & the outside were dinted & rusty.Heres the inside before......
& after.............
Someone had cut out the bulkhead. As you can see they hadn't cut out the whole thing just the part where the spare goes.........
Looking good
